Drift

Need help?

Drift is designed to be simple, but if something isn't working right, I'd like to help.

How do I change my notification time?

Tap the gear icon in the top-right of the Today screen, then adjust the from and until hours under Nudges. Drift will pick a quiet moment inside that window each day.

My notifications aren't arriving.

Make sure notifications are enabled for Drift in Settings > Notifications. Also check that you're opening the app at least once every few days — Drift schedules notifications up to 7 days ahead.

How do I seal an entry for a year?

Toggle Seal for a year above the Done button before you save. Sealed entries become time capsules: they disappear from the archive and resurface exactly 365 days later. It's off by default, so only the entries you choose are kept — everything else still fades after 7 days.

How do I choose which prompts I get?

Open the gear icon, then Prompt packs. Toggle packs on or off — Core, Grief & Loss, Creativity, and Relationships. At least one pack has to stay enabled so there's always something to write about.

Can I lock Drift with Face ID?

Yes. In settings, turn on Require Face ID. The app locks on launch and re-locks after it's been in the background for a little while. If Face ID fails, your device passcode works as a fallback. Drift doesn't store any biometric data — the system handles all of that.

I made a typo — can I fix today's entry?

Yes. Tap Edit on the saved entry to change it. You can edit for as long as it's still the same day; after midnight the entry locks in.

Can I recover a deleted entry?

No. Entries that have drifted away are gone permanently. That's by design — Drift is about letting go. (Time capsules are the one exception: if you sealed it, it'll come back a year later.)

Is my data backed up anywhere?

No. All data stays on your device and is never uploaded. If you delete the app, everything is permanently erased.

Is Drift really free? No catch?

Really free. No ads, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no data collection. Drift is a personal project built because I wanted it to exist.
