Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
Drift is built with privacy as a core principle. The app does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers.
What data does Drift store?
Drift stores the following data locally on your device only:
- Your journal entries (text you write in response to daily prompts), including a flag for each entry indicating whether you chose to seal it as a time capsule
- Your notification time preferences
- Which prompt packs you've enabled
- Whether Face ID is required to open the app (a single on/off preference — no biometric data is stored; Face ID is handled by the operating system)
- Whether you have completed onboarding
This data never leaves your device. There are no user accounts, no cloud sync, and no backups to external servers.
Data Retention
Journal entries are automatically removed from the app after 7 days. Entries you explicitly seal as time capsules are kept on your device for 365 days, then surfaced once before following the normal lifecycle. When you delete the app, all data is permanently erased.
Third-Party Services
Drift does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app makes no network requests.
Children's Privacy
Drift does not knowingly collect data from children. Since the app collects no data from anyone, it is safe for all ages.
